Going Green(John Deere) Boosts Hockey Team's Spirit
April 12 - The Ottawa Citizen newspaper reports that the Canadian women's hockey team used a John Deere cap to mark its hardest-working player in games of the women's world hockey championship in Winnipeg.

The Canadian women took the gold medal with a 5-1 win over the U.S. in Tuesday's final. After each game of the worlds, the player thought to be the hardest worker during the game donned a John Deere cap.

The team had traditionally used a yellow hard hat to mark the honor, but, the newspaper reported, the women wanted "something more understated and easily identifiable."

New Year's Weekend
Here is the game itinerary:
Saturday 12/30 12:30 p.m. Edina (controlled scrimmage)
@St. Louis Park West - former home of our own Chad Evers
we will be looking for some pictures in the trophy case.
Sunday 12/31 9:30 a.m. vs. Chaska @ Minnetonka
12:00 p.m. vs. Hopkins @ Minnetonka
We also have ice times next week...Tuesday and Thursday 9-11 a.m. at the facility.
The first hour will be a regular practice and then the second hour will be focused on checking.
Cost will be like a pay and play $10.00 per session.

Hotels
Hi gang!!
The MWL schedule is out for Jan6&7. We play our 1st game Sat Jan6 at 8:00am - I would guess that you would have to leave about 5:00am.
I need a vote if you all want me to book for Friday night. I'll go with the majority and anyone that wants different will have to call and change their reservation.
I haven't booked yet for this trip so please let me know asap your opinion, then I will give you conf#s.
The Minn. hotel info will be out later tonight.

Dec. 30th & 31st
We have 3 friendship games scheduled for the 30th and 31st in Minneapolis. It will be a one night stay on the 30th and you will be home for New Years Eve.
Saturday's ice time is at 12:30 PM vs. Edina. This will be a controlled scrimmage (no scoreboard) and before the game we will be retiring Coach Rolfes sweater as he will be inducted into the Edina Hall of Fame.
Sunday there are two ice times in the morning- more details to follow. Both against quality teams. One will be a controlled scrimmage and the other will be a standard game.
Let me know if you will not be able to attend.
The Peewees will be in Minneapolis with friendship games too.

Additional Tournaments
This weekend we added two additional Minnesota tournaments.
January 19-21 @ Winona
February 9-11 @ Shakopee (Minneapolis)
Both tournaments are 3 game guarantees. The tournament directors are willing to accommodate us to get us late Saturday morning games (Winona) and later Friday evening (Shakopee).

Saturday's Itinerary
Game time Saturday morning at the Facility is 10:30 a.m. Have the players ice ready by 10:15 a.m.
We have the ice from 10:30- noon.  Coach Grasso has arranged for the team to take a tour of the Stars Locker room prior to the 4 p.m. game. I would plan on being at WF Arena by 3 p.m. We will enter the arena at the VIP entrance (north side).
We will wear the white sweaters for both games.  Dennis Tinker picked up the tickets today. I will distribute Saturday morning. We will charge your hockey accounts. The price per ticket was $12.60.

Extra Socks?
Does anyone have extra socks that were too small that they could let the Mite team use until their's come in. They were missing 10 sets. If you have some extra lying around - Please bring them to Donita Greenough - their practice follows ours Thurs.

Russell Stover Stars Nov 18th
We are hosting the Stars on Saturday the 18th. Tentative game times are 10:30 a.m. at the Facility and 4 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. More to follow on the logistics of WF Arena.
The Iowa Stars will be in action after our game. The cost of using the ice is 100 ticket minimum between the Stars and us. Please email me with the number of tickets you will be needing for the Stars game. I believe the cost of each ticket is $10. I will let you know as I get more details.

I emailed National Hockey Rankings and they have put our AAA scores on the AAA tier. The boys are rated #65 in AAA and hanging in at #2 in AA.

Stanley Cup Picture
Plan on being at 7 Bridges for the picture at 9:30 p.m. We will wear our Dark jerseys and blue warm up pants. If you do not have the warm ups yet wear something blue.
Check out the website and check out your ticket packages for the gate fees. I am sure you can purchase them at 7 Bridges that night.

I started checking out I-PASS for our Chicago trips.  www.getipass.com.  It states $50 to get started so it might not be worth it.  FYI.

Chicago-Saturday Friendship Game Added
We have added a game this weekend. We will be playing the Glenview Stars on Saturday morning at 8:20 a.m. at their rink. Should be fun. Glenview will be in the International Invite Tournament in November and are currently ranked #8 in the National Hockey Rankings.
